Planning Application at Dorcas Lane
Some of you may be aware that there a company called Force 9 Energy is hoping to build a wind farm on land to the south of Dorcas Lane near Stoke Hammond. The first stage of the process is the erection of a 70m mast to measure noise and wind levels, and this planning application has just been submitted to AVDC.
Force 9 Energy has employed a professional lobbying firm called S.P. Broadway to represent them, and these two companies recently held an exhibition at Stoke Hammond to show off the plan, as well as to distribute a questionnaire regarding attitudes to renewable energy. Some people feel that the questionnaire was written in order to solicit a positive response to the idea of renewable energy, and by extension local support for the project. A modest sum of money is being put into a fund for villages to use for local projects.
The proposal is for 5 wind turbines, with a height to the tip of the blade of 125M. There is considerable concern in the villages surrounding the project and moves towards a coordinated response. Concerns include the possibility of noise, and “flicker” from the blades casting shadows over nearby houses amongst others.
As with all planning applications, the Parish Council is asked to provide a view which is either supporting, opposing, or neutral, and so it is important that you let us know your feelings. The deadline is currently 2nd August, but we are hoping for an extension to the 29th August.
You can also make your views known directly to the AVDC planners. You can find the planning application by clicking or putting this link into your browser
